SUNDOWNS MEET GALLANTS ON THE NEDBAK CUP TONIGHT

Mamelodi Sundowns are back home from their away continental fixture and resume local action with a Nedbank Cup clash. The Brazilians are preparing for their Nedbank Cup Last 16 clash against Marumo Gallants. Head Coach, Rulani Mokwena, previewed the away midweek fixture.

Coach Rulani Mokwen shared his insights on the opposition for the upcoming clash.“We have now changed mode and are going into the cup game against a good side that has talented players. Lead by Coach Dylan, whom we have a lot of respect for, they are a team that has improved confidence and great quality within their squad. Their stimulation is evident especially with their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup. It’s going to be a good cup game and we are looking forward to it.”

Bafana Ba Style and Marumo Gallants met up last season in the finals for the Nedbank Cup. With a 2-1 full-time score that saw Mamelodi Sundowns clinch the silverware last season, the team will be expected to put on a good fight on the pitch for this encounter.

The Brazilians Coach mentioned that he expects the game to be a good one especially because the team has experienced players such as Letsie Kgamanyane Koapeng, Lehlohonolo Nonyane, Lebohang Maboja, and Lucky Mohumi.

“We always have confidence in our team and players. We go into every game, and every competition with the objective to win. Our feeling is a feeling of wanting to win and not only for the Nedbank cup but for all three competitions, we have this season. We will do what we can to win every game”, said the Masandawana Coach.

With the domestic league and continental tournament fixtures in between the battle to defend their Nedbank Cup Championship title, Coach Mokwena shared that the games they play become games of consequence because they influence the success of failure. He said, “We also look at the season and we are proud of the work that we have done, looking at the growth and development of the team.”

Mamelodi Sundowns will meet with Marumo Gallants on Thursday [02 March 2023] at the Toyota Stadium in the Free State. The Last 16 action will kick off at 18h00.
