South African racing champion Fabienne Lanz officially opened the second Motorsport Girls Academy Camp, a three-day programme designed to introduce young women to the fundamentals of motorsport while developing confidence, leadership and practical life skills. Held from 5–7 July 2026, the academy brought together 20 participants aged 13 and older for a combination of driver development, technical training and personal growth.
Hosted by Lanz, the academy combines practical on-track experience with classroom-based learning, giving aspiring drivers and motorsport enthusiasts exposure to different aspects of the industry. The programme included kart driving sessions, vision board and career development workshops, physical training, nutrition, media and public speaking, branding and social media awareness, as well as mechanical engineering of stripping Engines, Drift Handling Dynamics and technical oil training.
Programme partners included Skellywags Drift Academy, Toyota Gazoo Racing, Liqui Moly, Mzansi Speedway, Rojan, Formula-K Circuit, KR Africa providing participants with industry-focused learning and practical experience. The academy is designed to identify talent, passion, coachability and resilience while introducing young women to the many career pathways available within motorsport beyond driving.
Opening day featured vision board sessions led by Fabienne Lanz, Pilates and strength training presented by Jokes Aside, kart driving sessions, and interviewing and elevator pitch workshops. South African sprinter Lythe Ning joined the programme as a special guest, sharing insights into training and mental preparation while highlighting the similarities between sprinting and motorsport.
Throughout the three-day programme, participants also experienced circuit driving etiquette, mechanical and oil theory, media training for television, radio and digital platforms, and team-building activities aimed at developing confidence both on and off the track. The camp focused on equipping attendees with practical skills while encouraging discipline, resilience and leadership.
The academy concluded with a prize-giving ceremony recognising outstanding participants. Prizes included an exclusive driving experience in a high-performance racing Cobra, a single-seater Super Vee racing car experience, and arrive-and-drive karting race experiences sponsored by Kartzone.
Returning for its second edition, the Motorsport Girls Academy Camp continues to provide a platform for young women to explore opportunities in motorsport through hands-on learning, mentorship and industry exposure while encouraging greater participation in the sport
