South Africa’s loved songstress will be making the debut back on stage on a one woman show this coming April the 18th at the Lyric Theatre. “It’s been 6 years since I’ve performed at the Lyric theatre” says Lira. “I love the fact that it’s offers the intimacy I’d like for the show,’ she added.
For the first time in 6 years, Lira returns to the stage with a deeply intimate solo performance. This special showcase invites audiences into a powerful journey through music and movement, celebrating resilience, joy, and triumph. Experience iconic songs reimagined, moments of heartfelt connection, and the unmistakable spirit that has shaped her extraordinary artistry. More than a concert, Lira:‘Still Here’ is a celebration of healing, courage, and the transformative power of music.
After her stroke Lira lost her speech and the ability to read and write. After almost 4 years of hard work on the road to recovery, she is finally able to have a show and serenade the crowds with their favourite tunes. “I’m going to tell my story through music and movement, and it’s going to be an entertaining yet powerful and healing experience!” she declares.
After all the life’s challenges Lira is ready to sing her songs in English, Zulu and Sotho confidently as we all know her. “I am able to move my body rhythmically as well, as the stroke affected my sense of rhythm, and I can now move freely and confidently” she added. This is a story of triumphant healing. It’s a celebration! A second chance not taken for granted as it is not over until God says so.
“No matter what you go through – you can emerge on the other side stronger than ever before. You can have the battle scars – but that reminds of what you’ve had to come through – and all is well! If you have life in your veins and breath in your lungs – you can still live – happily, triumphantly and with purpose!” Says Lira. “I will share some new music I’ve been working on, it’s taken me a long time- recovery is a slow process but I’m finally ready to share some new music.” She added.
