“A moving body of work!

Her latest album is a testament that she has arrived and is here to cement her place in the Gospel music industry. Singer and songwriter Bongiwe Mngomezulu (30) has had an overwhelming response to the release of her debut EP, Uyangihola earning her a spot in many homes.

“Bongiwe has grown so much in music and I’m such a proud big sister to hear such amazing songs she has written. The songs Busa Njalo and Uyangihola are my favourite” – Sne Zwane, singer & influencer.

Bongiwe describes her sound as contemporary gospel with a touch of soul, afro-pop, R&B, and pop. Growing up in Newcastle, Kwa-Zulu Natal, she has always known music was her calling and she accepted it. “I’ve always known I wanted to do music.”

Thando Thusi who worked with Bongiwe from when she first found her voice at the church choir says phenomenal is an understatement. “The production on your album is too clean, the sounds correspond with the emotions and literature,” he said. ” The storytelling is amazing you get taken on a journey as you connect with the one you’re sending your praises to, the assurance that God is with us is there.” Thando commends the maturity of her writing. “The pen really slid nice on that paper. Busa Njalo in my favourite song – the reprise assured us, God, that won’t ever leave us – that got me very emotional.” Thando adds that Bongiwe has matured as a musician and her sound triggers emotion. “The music is emotional. Her composure,  the breathing is immaculate and projection is there also you have tapped into the ministering more than just singing a song like a church worshiper. Truly, a moving body of work.”

The project is an offering from her soul. “The music is straight from my heart. However, there was a lot of prayer involved in the making of the project. I  had a lot to say to God but also had to get direction from Him. Each song has its own emotion, feeling, and sound, and offers something for everyone,” Bongiwe said.
