Ten-man Swallows FC were held to a 0-0 draw by TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership match at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The draw saw Amaswaiswai remain 14th on the league standings and they will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns with Sekhukhune United on Friday.
While the Rockets climbed up to the 11th spot on the standings ahead of their encounter against Cape Town City which is also scheduled to be played on Friday.
With first-choice goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi absent, Amaswaiswai were keen to seriously test the Rockets’ back-up keeper Vasilije Kolak who was making his first appearance of the season.
Waseem Issacs and Mbulelo Wambi both had their attempts at goal in the second minute and sixth minute respectively saved by Kolak as the hosts pushed for an early goal.
The Rockets grew gradually into the game and they managed to test keeper Thakasani Mbanjwa who tipped Orebotse Mongae’s effort over the crossbar in the 34th minute and the score was 0-0 at halftime.
Swallows suffered a blow just three minutes into the second-half as Gregory Damons was shown a straight red card after making a reckless challenge on Mlungisi Mbunjana.
Despite being numerically disadvantaged, Amaswaiswai looked dangerous on the counter attack with coach Ernst Middendorp having introduced the attack-minded Lindokuhle Mtshali with 17 minutes left.
Keegan Allan thought he had snatched Swallows’ late winning goal when he scored in the dying minutes of the game, but the goal was controversially ruled out for offside and ultimately, the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
