Sbahle Assembles A Star Trio with Nhlanhla Mafu and Naima Kay on “Some More

Afropop star Sbahle is making a bold and beautiful statement with the release of her new single Some More — a powerful collaboration that brings together two of the most celebrated and loved afrosoul queens, Nhlanhla Mafu and Naima Kay. More than just a collaboration, Some More is a meeting of generations, voices and musical legacies within the Afro-pop and Afro-soul landscape. The song beautifully captures the tenderness of love, longing and commitment through poetic lyricism, warm harmonies and emotionally rich storytelling.

At the centre of the song is the striking lyric: “Dilika dilika wey’ntaba zoKhlamba ngibone uLavo, ngifuna ukumunika uthando,” a deeply romantic expression that paints the image of the Drakensberg mountains standing between two lovers. In the lyric, Sbahle passionately calls for the mountains to fall so she can reach the person she loves and finally give them the love she carries in her heart.

Inspired by romance and vulnerability, Sbahle says Some More is a true reflection of who she is both as a woman and creative.

“As a lover girl, I love speaking about love and the song is also an expression of love in a romantic manner,” she shares.

Adding another layer of emotional depth to the song is Nhlanhla Mafu’s heartfelt verse: “Ngikhumbula kudala sihamba loluhambo lwethu, bathi mina nawe sizophelela emoyeni,” which translates to: “I remember when our love journey started, people said it would end in thin air.” The lyric speaks to enduring love that survives doubt, criticism and outside voices — a sentiment that many listeners will resonate with.

With lush melodies and soulful vocal textures, Some More showcases Sbahle’s signature sound — one she describes as “broad, powerful and intentional.”

“With every song, I aim to touch people’s hearts individually,” she explains. “Everything I create is calculated and very intentional.”

The collaboration with Nhlanhla Mafu and Naima Kay is particularly meaningful for the singer, who cites both artists among the women who inspired her musical journey alongside icons such as Beyoncé and Brenda Mntambo.

“I grew up listening to most of these artists and in some way they have helped me hone my creativity,” she says.

The release of Some More arrives during an exciting season for Sbahle, who is currently rolling out her latest project titled Iscoco Sami — meaning “My Crown” in English — released on 15 May. The project represents self-worth, growth and stepping fully into her power as an artist and woman.
