Rapper Zuluboy Breaks Two-Year Musical Hiatus with Powerful Mandela Day Anthem ‘Freedom’

Legendary South African hip-hop pioneer, actor, and cultural activist Zuluboy is officially making his highly anticipated return to the music scene.

In commemoration of Nelson Mandela International Day, the iconic lyricist is set to drop a monumental new single titled Freedom.

The release marks Zuluboy’s profound return to the airwaves after a two-year hiatus following his relocation to New York City in 2024. Now back with a refreshed global perspective, the veteran artist is aligning with his roots, launching a track that honours the legacy of South Africa’s former president Nelson Mandela.

“Freedom is a powerful anthem of resilience, hope, and self-determination that speaks to the enduring strength of the human spirit. The timing of the release on Mandela Day is deeply intentional. The dream that comes to life of ultimate opportunities that freedom brings is a dream that is worth fighting for and keeping alive, just like Nelson Mandela did,” says Zuluboy.

Reflecting on his two-year absence from the commercial music space and his time in America, Zuluboy emphasises that his bond with the craft never wavered.

“The significance of my return is my love for music. I never stopped recording. I do music because I love it and I hear it. It’s something that I will never stop doing whether I’m releasing or not.”

“Freedom” will be available on all major digital streaming platforms on Mandela Day.
