No small teams in Africa

Captain of the Cameroon national team, Vincent Aboubakar has warned that there are no longer so-called small teams in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations and that Cameroon was approaching all matches with that mindset.

The Indomitable Lions are drawn in a tough Group C consisting of defending champions, Senegal, Guinea and Gambia, which promises to produce action packed encounters.

Speaking to CAFOnline upon their arrival in Yamoussoukro where they will be based for their group matches, the top scorer of the last edition with 8 goals said the team was not underestimating any team and would give it their all.

It is a great honor for us to land in Côte d’Ivoire, everyone is eager to compete and make Cameroon proud. It is an honor for me to be here, with my colleagues in the Cameroonian national team, and we will seize the opportunity as much as possible as long as we are here.

Of course, Cameroon is ready to start the Africa Cup of Nations and we came prepared. Everything is going well within the group and we are ready to compete.

It is difficult to make a prediction for AFCON because all teams are motivated and good. We will not underestimate any team because there are no small teams in Africa. We will do our best to stay in the competition for as long as possible.

As you can see, today there are no small teams in Africa. All the teams have the capabilities to compete with the big teams, and therefore there is no small team. The competition will not be easy, and we must be strong to continue the competition.

The ambition is more collective. I personally participated in 3 editions of the AFCON and won the 2017 title and finished third in 2021. What matters most to me is helping my country and my teammates reach the furthest place possible.I urge them to get behind and support us. Even in bad times we will need them in order to achieve our dreams.
