MULTI-PARTY WOMEN’S CAUCUS COMMENDS BANYANA BANYANA ON MAKING HISTORY WITH VICTORY AT WORLD CUP

he Chairperson of the Multi-Party Women’s Caucus (MPWC) has noted the amazing achievement by South Africa’s women’s soccer team, Banyana Banyana, and commened them for its victory over Italy, thereby qualifying for the next round of matches at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
 
Committee Chairperson Ms Nkhensani Kate Bilankulu said: “It is with pride as a country that we commend our women for flying the South African flag high at the tournament. This win is even more special as it comes during the month of August, where we celebrate Women’s Month and next week National Women’s Day on 9 August 2023.”
 
In a nail-biting match yesterday Banyana Banyana beat Italy 3–2 in Wellington, New Zealand. With this victory, Banyana Banyana became the first senior South African football team to qualify for the knockout round of a FIFA World Cup.
 
She called on all South Africans to wear their regalia every Friday in support of Banyana Banyana. “This way we will show them our support from home. We are 100% behind you.”
