Lowfeye Honors His Mother and Redefines South African Hip-Hop with Debut Album ‘NOSANGE’

Rising as one of the leading voices in modern South African hip-hop, shaping and influencing a generation through music, culture, and innovation, Qwellers member and co-founder Lowfeye, real name Sibusiso Blessing Sibisi (25) has officially released his highly anticipated debut album, NOSANGE, now available on all major streaming platforms.

Named in honor of the rapper’s late mother, NOSANGE stands as a deeply personal and transformative body of work that captures Lowfeye’s journey, identity, and evolution.

“I named the album after my mom Nosange – which also means ‘to take care and nurture.’ My mom was a singer and wanted to one day take part in Idols. She wanted to hold the mic, and perform in front of a big crowd. That did not happen for her, and instead it was passed onto me andI am living her dream.”

“With this project, I wanted to tell a story. I want people to understand where I come from and how I grew up into the person I am today,” he shares.

The album’s direction is further showcased by standout tracks such as “ETHekwini” and “Sosobala” which highlight Lowfeye’s seamless fusion of Afro-pop and hip-hop, reinforcing the versatility of the 2x platinum-selling artist. This is further elevated by a carefully curated feature list, including the likes of Sjava, Shwi Mantombazane, and Danya Devs, each bringing a distinct element that complements Lowfeye’s sound while enhancing the overall feel of the debut album.

He loved music from a young age, even before he could comprehend the possibility of being a performer. NOSANGE marks a significant milestone not only in Lowfeye’s career, but also for the fans who have followed his journey. Ahead of its release, he built considerable momentum through a string of notable achievements, including earning a 2x platinum plaque for his feature on “Typhoon” alongside Sjava, releasing the well-received EP Days Before NOSANGE, which set the tone for his debut album and curating an album launch event.
