The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr Xola Nqola, has noted with deep sadness the passing of the former Judge President of the Eastern Cape, Justice Temba Sangoni.
Mr Nqola described the late Justice Sangoni as a principled servant of the people whose life and work ethic exemplified justice for the people. Judge Sangoni who passed away yesterday after short illness retired in 2017.
“The committee mourns the passing of this giant in legal circles but is comforted by the knowledge that his legacy will live on for the people of South Africa to benefit.” Said Mr Nqola.
Mr Nqola added: “Justice Sangoni’s contribution to the rule of law and his wisdom will live on forever. “We convey our deepest condolences to the family, legal fraternity, and the people of South Africa at large. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
