Media personality’s disappearance sparked a frantic search after it was reported that he had been hijacked and kidnapped in Katlehong on Tuesday.

“The incident occurred at about 8 pm when the victim was fetching his wife from church. As she approached their vehicle, three unknown men, one reportedly armed with a firearm, suddenly approached them, pushed her aside and forced her husband into the back seat of his Ford Raptor bakkie.

“The suspects then drove off with the victim,” Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said in a statement.

Ndlovu’s family confirmed that his lifeless body was found by community members, who told them he appeared to have gunshot wounds.

“The family has since gone to the mortuary, where Owen’s wife, Portia Ndlovu, identified his body. The family was informed of his death by those who found him, and the news was subsequently confirmed by Eugene Mthethwa.

“At this stage, the family is awaiting further information from the relevant authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding Owen’s death,” the family said in a statement.

Police confirmed that the kidnapping was reported after 8 pm on Tuesday.

Nevhuhulwi said a postmortem would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
