FlySafair is pleased to announce the launch of a new route between OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) and Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka, Zambia, responding to sustained demand on the corridor. The service operates five times weekly, on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with fares from R2,800 from Johannesburg and R3,000 from Lusaka, excluding surcharges. Lusaka is Zambia’s capital and one of the region’s fastest-growing cities, with a mix of culture and wildlife increasingly drawing leisure travellers. Visitors can explore the city’s arts scene at spaces like the 37D Gallery and the Kabwata Cultural Village, or trace Zambian history at the Lusaka National Museum. Just outside the capital, Chaminuka Lodge and Nature Reserve offers day and overnight safaris with sightings of elephants, lions, giraffe and wildebeest, while Munda Wanga Environmental Park combines a botanical garden with a wildlife sanctuary.
Beyond the capital, Lusaka is Zambia’s primary gateway to Livingstone and Victoria Falls, as well as the Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa National Parks, two of the continent’s most celebrated safari destinations. The city is also an increasingly important commercial hub for Southern and Central Africa, home to regional banks, mining and telecommunications companies, and pan-African development organisations, with South Africa remaining one of Zambia’s most significant trade and investment partners.

The Johannesburg–Lusaka route operates on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, departing OR Tambo International Airport at 07:50 and arriving in Lusaka at 09:50, with the return flight departing Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 10:50 and arriving at OR Tambo at 12:50.
