Braam Culture Fest 2025 is positioning itself as one of the year’s defining cultural gatherings, transforming Constitution Hill into a vibrant celebration of South Africa’s urban music, fashion, and street culture on Saturday, 6 September 2025.
Supported by the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, the festival joins the ranks of nationally recognized events such as Hey Neighbour, Cotton Fest, and Spring Fiesta, offering a uniquely Johannesburg perspective on urban culture.
The one-day event will showcase multiple genres across three purpose-built stages, featuring headline performances from acclaimed artists including Thulani Way, Fresh by Caddy, Khuzani, and rising stars like 031 Choppa and W4DE. The lineup spans Amapiano, Hip-Hop, Gqom, and Afro-house, creating a comprehensive soundtrack to contemporary South African urban culture.
Each stage offers a distinct experience: Level 1 focuses on Amapiano and Hip-Hop, Level 2 presents Gqom and Afro-house, while Level 3 provides a platform for emerging and underground talent.
“Braam Culture Fest mirrors the energy of Johannesburg – fast-moving, diverse, and unapologetically creative,” says festival co-founder Siyabonga Mahlangu (Sbosh Deejay). “This is where Amapiano meets Hip-Hop, where different sounds collide, and where everyone finds their place. We’re creating more than a music festival – we’re building a platform for cultural exchange.”
The choice of Braamfontein as the festival’s home reflects the area’s cultural significance. Co-founder Khona Mdaki explains: “Braamfontein is the creative heartbeat of Johannesburg. Every street here carries art, music, and history. By hosting the festival here, we’re using the neighbourhood itself as part of the experience.”
Beyond music, Braam Culture Fest will feature local fashion showcases, sneaker culture activations, art installations, and a food village offering both gourmet street food and township-inspired cuisine. The festival aims to support local economic development by engaging vendors, designers, and small businesses throughout its programming.
