AMAZULU LOSES OVER MAGESI

As a result, Usuthu were eliminated from the league cup and they will now prepare for their KwaZulu-Natal Derby clash against Durban City. The Betway Premiership match is scheduled for October 18.

Dikwena Tsa Meetse got off to a bright start and they broke the deadlock four minutes before the half-hour mark as Kgomotso Mosadi hit the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Magesi following a good move by the visitors.

Magesi continued to launch attacks and they doubled their lead in the 33rd minute. This time it was Abby Seseane who found the back of the net and Magesi were enjoying a 2-0 lead during the half-time break in Durban.

Usuthu came back as an improved side – exerting pressure on the Dikwena Tsa Meetse defence. Athini Maqokolo was able to grab a goal on his full debut for AmaZulu to make it 2-1 four minutes before the hour mark.

The comeback was complete in the 71st minute when Mondli Mbanjwa beat goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze to make it 2-2, much to the delight of the home crowd inside the 2010 FIFA World Cup venue.

It was then end-to-end stuff in the latter stages of the match as both teams searched for a late winning goal. Thabiso Kutumela netted an unfortunate own-goal to hand Magesi a 3-2 victory over AmaZulu in stoppage time.
