ADIDAS MARKS 25 YEARS SINCE DAVID BECKHAM’S ICONIC FREE KICK WITH THE NEW DAVID BECKHAM PREDATOR

On the 25th anniversary, adidas unveils the David Beckham Predator, a special edition football boot inspired by one of the most defining moments in both David Beckham’s career and Predator history.

Marking the anniversary of Beckham’s unforgettable free kick against Greece on October 6, 2001, the third-generation signature Predator boot, co-designed with Beckham, celebrates a strike that secured England’s qualification for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and cemented his place amongst football’s most iconic clutch performers. The moment remains one of the most memorable Predator goals ever scored and a defining chapter in the story of the franchise.

The boot draws inspiration from the colourway worn on that day, with clean white and red execution that blends football heritage with elevated craftsmanship. A defining feature of the design is the inclusion of the Trefoil logo, appearing for only the second time in Predator history. Having first featured on Beckham’s debut special edition Predator release in 2024, which sold out within 24 hours, the Trefoil has quickly become synonymous with David Beckham Predator models, creating a distinctive bridge between adidas Originals heritage and one of football’s most iconic boot franchises.

Inspired by adidas’ latest Predator Elite FT L-Tech concept, pairing traditional leather craftsmanship with modern performance innovation, the boot features a premium leather forefoot that delivers the soft touch and comfort synonymous with the game’s most beloved leather boots, while retaining the lightweight support and performance technologies of the modern Predator. The design also incorporates the signature fold-over tongue, finished in rich red leather for a premium look and feel.

The Trefoil influence extends throughout the design, with both the lateral and medial Three Stripes filled with repeated Trefoil branding, creating a subtle premium detail that celebrates Beckham’s enduring connection with adidas. Additional personalised touches include Beckham branding on the lateral heel and a Trefoil logo embroidered onto the fold-over tongue, reinforcing the fusion of football performance and adidas Originals style.

Sam Handy, General Manager, adidas Football, said:
Few moments in football history capture the spirit of Predator quite like David Beckham’s free kick against Greece. It showcased the precision, confidence and control that have defined both Beckham’s legacy and the Predator franchise for more than three decades. With this special edition release, we wanted to honour that moment through a design that combines authentic football heritage, premium craftsmanship and modern performance innovation.”

Alongside the new David Beckham Predator, adidas is also introducing a reimagined version of the Predator Precision worn by Beckham on that day. The Predator Precision Remade returns in the instantly recognisable white and red colourway synonymous with that unforgettable strike, allowing a new generation of players and collectors to own a piece of Predator history.

The David Beckham Predator and Predator Precision Remade will be available from today via selected adidas retail stores and adidas.co.za
