Gauteng MEC Matome Chiloane on the passing of Crown Gospel Awards founder Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule

The Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Matome Chiloane, is saddened to learn of the passing of Ms Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, the founder of the Crown Gospel Awards.

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation reflects on the successful partnership with the Rights Owners of the Crown Gospel Awards hosted in 2023 by the Gauteng Province for the first time since their inception and it’s all thanks to the visionary and bold leadership of Ms Zanele Mbokazi and her Board.

Says MEC Chiloane; “Thoughts and prayers to the Mbokazi-Nkambule family and South Africa’s gospel music community at this difficult time.”

“Mam Zanele was incredibly passionate about gospel music so much so that, her life’s work and the organization she created gave the genre that brings joy, hope and healing to so many a great platform to shine. Not only do the Crown Gospel Awards celebrate and showcase the best of gospel music, but provided opportunities of undiscovered talent to be identified, developed and reach audiences otherwise out of reach.”

“My sincerest condolences to Mam Zanele’s husband, Bishop Nkambule, her children, the Crown Gospel Awards family, Ukhozi FM and all those who supported and followed her work. May her beautiful soul rest in God’s eternal peace.
