TS GALAXY WON OVER GOLDEN ARROWS

TS Galaxy secured a 2-1 victory over Golden Arrows in a Nedbank Cup Last 32 match played at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale on Friday night.

Therefore, the Rockets progressed to the Round of 16 for the second year running. Coach Sead Ramovic’s side is set to lock horns with Cape Town Spurs in the DStv Premiership in the Mother City on 3 March.

Arrows, on the other hand, saw their ambitions of going far in the cup competition fade away after being eliminated. Coach Mabhuti Khenyeza’s side will now host Sekhukhune United in a league clash on 28 February.

Having grabbed a goal and an assist against Abafana Be’thende last weekend, Bradley Mojela was once again a constant threat to the hosts’ defence. The speedy attacker broke the deadlock in the 11th minute to hand Galaxy a 1-0 lead with Solomon Letsoenyo providing the assist.

However, Letsoenyo, who had now provided three assists in two matches against Arrows, became the villain in the 17th minute. The technically gifted left-back netted an unfortunate own-goal and the score was 1-1 at halftime with Mojela having mesmerized the Abafana Bes’thende’s defenders in the first-half.

With the Rockets looking to restore their lead, Ramovic decided to introduce Ofentse Mongae. The former Baroka FC attacking midfielder proved to be an inspired substitute as he set up Mpho Mvelase who netted in the 67th minute to make it 2-1 to Galaxy.

Mongae, who was keeping the Arrows defence busy, tried to put his name on the score sheet in the 83rd minute but he was denied by goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana. Ultimately, the match ended in a 2-1 victory in favour of Galaxy who were able to contain the hosts in the dying minutes.
