PIRATES HAMMER AMAZULU TO BOOK CAF CL SPOT

Orlando Pirates claimed an emphatic 4-0 win over AmaZulu FC in a DStv Premiership match played at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Therefore, Bucs qualified for the CAF Champions League as DStv Premiership runners-up and they will now face Sekhukhune United in the Nedbank Cup final on May 27.

AmaZulu, on the other hand, finished the season in the 12th spot on the DStv Premiership standings.

It took just five minutes for Thabiso Monyane to hand Pirates a 1-0 lead when the pacey full-back beat goalkeeper Jody February at the near-post with a powerful spot.

The Buccaneers continued to attack and they doubled their lead in the 36th minute when Relebohile Ratomo netted from close range to make it 2-0 to the visitors.

Monnapule Saleng, who provided the assist for Ratomo’s goal, grabbed a goal in the 40th minute after being sent through on goal and Pirates were leading 3-0 at halftime.

The Soweto giants continued to pile pressure on Usuthu after the restart and coach Jose Riveiro introduced attack-minded Kabelo Dlamini in the 77th minute.

Dlamini netted from close range to seal Pirates’ 4-0 victory with 10 minutes left on the clock when he turned home Terrence Dzvukamanja’s low cross
