MTN rewards the 2023 MTN8 Last Fan Standing football enthusiast

MTN announced the 2023 MTN8 Last Fan Standing winner after an exhilarating tournament which ended in October. Khosana Isaac Ngongo from Elliotdale in the Eastern Cape smashed his opponents in a football knockout quiz live on SABC Sports@10 and claimed the staggering R1 million prize.

Over the years the MTN8 Last Fan Standing competition has become a fan favourite due to its big rewards. The competition was driven through the recharge and win mechanic and participants were encouraged to dial *144*8# to opt-in and recharge with R10 or more or buy a data bundle to stand a chance to contend for the coveted title of the ultimate football fan and a share of R8 million prize pool.

“With each season of the MTN8 tournament that passes, we are always thrilled to witness the overwhelming support and passion from fans across the country and how they engage in all our campaign activities. Through the tournament, we have been able to touch ordinary South African’s lives and award them the opportunities to reach their dreams.

“Congratulations to Khosana for claiming the Last Fan Standing title and becoming yet another millionaire to come out of the MTN8 tournament. This speaks to our summer campaign ‘skip to the good stuff this summer’, for our winner, who will definitely have a summer like no other”, said Nomsa Chabeli, General Manager for Brand and Marketing at MTN SA.

Ngongo could hardly contain his excitement and shock when he heard his name being announced as the MTN8 Last Fan Standing winner – “this is one of the best days of my life and I am truly grateful for this opportunity. I cannot believe that through recharging with just R10 or more I am standing here today as a millionaire. Thank you to MTN, this will make a huge difference in my life and my family.”

Another exciting prize from the pool of the R8 million rand prizes was the car giveaway for fans who also participated in the recharge and win competition. Abram Mabokela from Limpopo was the lucky finalist who selected the gift box with the R220 000 voucher and was given the choice to either swap the voucher for a car to the same value or to keep the cash incentive. Mabokela opted to keep the cash prize.

“We look forward to the new season of the MTN8 tournament with just as much enthusiasm displayed by football fans as we continue to find new ways to engage and reward our customers while bringing them closer to their passion”, concludes Chabeli.
