Orlando Pirates fans are still trying to come to terms with the departure of their star player Thembinkosi Lorch.

The 30-year-old winger joined Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday to the surprise of many football lovers across the country.

Nyoso has been a fan-favourite since joining the Buccaneers nine years ago and has scored more Soweto derby goals than any Pirates player in the last 20 years.

The Sea Robbers announced the news which fans didn’t take very well.

“Thembinkosi Lorch is to leave Orlando Pirates Football Club after a discussion between the Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza and the Mamelodi Sundowns hierarchy.

The Club thanks “Nyoso” for his immense contribution by adding another page in the history of the Club.

“We wish him and his family well in his future sporting pursuit.,” Pirates said in a statement.

Sundowns have in the past signed high-profile players from Pirates such as Teko Modise, Oupa Manyisa, to mention a few.
