Some bad news reached our table earlier today, ahead of Soweto’s derby on Saturday.
Soweto derby is one of the biggest derbies in the whole African continent. This derby is whereby the spectators fill up either FNB stadium, Orlando stadium or Moses Mabhida stadium to watch their talented and hard – working footballers. It seems like things will take u – turn this year.
The bad news we received is that, as it’s already Wednesday, only forty thousand (40 000 / 40K) tickets are only sold for this derby. It seems like football fans are about to witness a Soweto derby whereby tickets are not sold out. Since only forty thousand tickets are sold, it means around forty five (45 000 / 40K) tickets are still left on sale. Only two days are left to sell them out.
It has been proven that when Kaizer Chiefs FC form dropped, the attendance of Chiefs matches become very poor. It seems like Chiefs current form is the reason why Soweto derby’s tickets are yet to be sold out.
Moreover, Amakhosi are seven points from relegation zone. If Swallows FC and Marizburg United win their next matches and Chiefs fail to win on Saturday, it means Chiefs will be four points from relegation. Before losing 3-2 against Golden Arrows, Arthur Zwane said they will fight for position two spot because they want to participate in CAF champions league this year and it seems like his dream will never become true.
Chiefs won only one league game this year against Royal AM. They lost against Sekhukhune United, Mamelodi Sundowns FC, Amazulu FC and Golden Arrows FC. They will be looking to get maximum points on Saturday againt Orlando Pirates FC.
