Gauteng gears up for the 11th annual Gauteng Sport Awards  

It’s all systems go for the annual Gauteng Sport Awards prestigious event. The event will be hosted by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation on Saturday the 18th of February 2023, at the Tshwane University of Technology, Soshanguve South Campus in the City of Tshwane. In line with the commitment made by the Premier on the prioritisation of Township’s, Informal-Settlements and Hostels (TISH), the Gauteng Sports Awards will for the very first time be hosted in a township in Tshwane.

This is in-line with our mandate to ensure access, increased participation, and transformation of the sport, arts, culture and recreation sector in a manner that yields optimum social and economic benefits by boosting the local economy of Soshanguve.

“Gauteng is the biggest contributor of sportinhg stars and heroes in South Africa, we are ready to roll out the red carpet for Gauteng’s sporting crème de la crème says MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Ms Morakane Mosupyoe.

“This is indeed historical as we are taking this prestigious event for the first time to a township” she continues.

The main aim of the Gauteng Sport Awards is to recognise and honour individuals, teams and organizations in the sports sector who have excelled both on and off the field on an annual basis. Amongst the attendees will be the Premier of Gauteng Mr. Panyaza Lesufi, Members of the Executive Council, Sporting legends and nominees in the 20 categories.
