The Gauteng department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation joins the country and the rest of the soccer world in congratulating Orlando Pirates FC for yet again retaining the MTN 8 Cup title against Mamelodi Sundowns FC.
Orlando Pirates FC defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 on penalties in the finals on Saturday, 07 October 2023 at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
MEC Morakane Mosupyoe said in congratulating the champions: “We would like to congratulate the Soweto giants Orlando Pirates for defending their MTN 8 Cup trophy against Mamelodi Sundowns FC.”
“It really was a battle of the Titans, Wafa Wafa, but the Buccaneers came out victorious against the Brazilians. Gauteng is very proud of the Sea Robbers for maintaining their MTN 8 winning streak. Well done to the Happy People”, added MEC Mosupyoe.
