AMAZULU GET VICTORY OVER SEKHUKHUNE

AmaZulu FC snapped their four-match winless run in the DStv Premiership when they claimed a 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night.

The win elevated Usuthu to the 10th spot on the league standings and they will be looking to make it two wins in a row when they square off with Mamelodi Sundowns at home on Wednesday.

Babina Noko, on the other hand, remained seventh on the standings after their four-match unbeaten run in the league came to an end and they are set to play host to TS Galaxy on Wednesday.

Usuthu started the match brightly with Riaan Hanamub looking lively in the left flank as he delivered some quality crosses into the Babina Noko box – forcing goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare to come out and gather the ball in the 18th minute.

The hosts deservedly took the lead six minutes before the half-hour mark when Ethan Brooks beat his marker before firing past Sangare to make it 1-0 to AmaZulu, who were leading during the halftime break.

Sekhukhune were the better side in the second-half and Chibuike Ohizu’s brilliant cross found an unmarked Train Mokhabi in the far post, but the attacker’s tame header was easily gathered by keeper Jody February.

However, Babina Noko conceded another goal in the 75th minute when Ramahlwe Mphahlele scored from Abbubaker Mobara’s top-notch free-kick to make it 2-0 to AmaZulu, with the visitors’ poor marking being exposed.

The hosts were then reduced to 10 players with 10 minutes left on the clock when Sphesihle Maduna was shown a straight red card, but a numerically-disadvantaged AmaZulu side held on to secure a 2-0 victory on the night.AMA
