AmaZulu Fires Spanish Coach Pablo Franco Martin

Betway Premiership club AmaZulu has parted ways with Spanish head coach Pablo Franco Martin following a disappointing start to the season, marked by three consecutive defeats.

Martin’s assistant coach, Aitor van den Brule, has also left the club. The decision was announced late on Monday evening in an official statement, coming after a disastrous beginning to the 2024/25 campaign.

“AmaZulu FC has decided to part ways with head coach Pablo Franco Martin and assistant Aitor van den Brule,” a club statement said.

“We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to both Pablo Franco Martin and Aitor van den Brule for their contributions during the last 15 months at the helm of the team.

“Their dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and we appreciate all the effort they have put into their roles.

“We wish them the best in their future endeavours and extend our warmest regards as they move forward in their careers.”

Martin’s tenure at AmaZulu spanned 39 games, resulting in 12 wins, 12 draws, and 15 defeats, averaging 1.23 points per game.

Usuthu has started the current campaign in an underwhelming fashion with defeats to Kaizer Chiefs and newly-promoted sides Marumo Gallants and Polokwane City.
