adidas and Manchester United introduce the adidas x MUFC x George  Best collection

Today, adidas and Manchester United unveil the adidas x MUFC x George Best collection, a range of apparel in homage to one of United’s greatest ever players. The retro collection features a long-sleeve jersey and matching tracksuit, with the design inspired by the club’s memorable 1967/68 European Cup winning season.

The collection includes:

  • Long-sleeve jersey: Inspired by the blue jersey worn during the European Cup final victory against Benfica and features the iconic 1967/68 City of Manchester coat of arms and adidas trefoil logo in white, with tonal blue three stripes down the sleeves. Signing off the back of the jersey is number ‘7’, the number synonymous with the great George Best. Further detailing includes a ‘George Best’ embroidered signature on the left cuff.
  • Tracksuit: Track top features ribbed cuffs and a fold-down collar to keep a classic football look, and teams up with slim fit track pants with soft piqué fabric. Both the top and pants include the 1967/68 City of Manchester coat of arms and trefoil logo in white, alongside the iconic number ‘7’ on the front. The track top also includes the George Best embroidered signature on the left cuff.

Throwing it back to the same era, the campaign was shot on film by Hollywood legend and United fan,

Gary Oldman, using a vintage Chamonix camera. Players include Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Ethan Wheatley alongside club legends Bryan Robson and Andy Cole.

Inigo Turner, Design Director at adidas said, “The 1968 European Cup victory is etched in the memory of United fans and will be forever. It was the season where they lifted the trophy for the first time ever, and at the heart of the team was the legendary George Best. This collection pays tribute to an incredible player and legend of the club. The retro look and feel of the range offer United fans something unique and stylish to don the terraces with this season.”
