STIXX EMBRACES HIS CALLING WITH THIRD STUDIO ALBUM DESTINY

| South African Amapiano producer and DJ Stixx has always had music running through his veins. Raised in a musical family, his connection to sound was established long before he considered pursuing it professionally. Now, with the release of his third studio album, DESTINY, Stixx reflects on the journey that brought him here, embracing the very calling he once tried to pursue a life outside of.

DESTINY represents a moment of clarity for an artist who has come to understand that some paths are simply meant to be followed. Rooted in the soulful, melodic foundations of Amapiano, the album captures Stixx’s continued evolution as a producer and musician, bringing together his instinct for rhythm, emotive storytelling and an increasingly confident musical identity.

“Since I was young, I’ve always had a love for music,” Stixx shares. “Coming from a musical family, music has always been at the forefront of my mind. However, I never took it seriously and instead tried to pursue other career paths. But in life, you quickly realise what works for you and what doesn’t. For me, music was something I simply couldn’t run away from. This project is a reflection of my growth as an artist and musician. I present to you my third album, DESTINY.”

“Amablomo” featuring Babalwa M and De Rose emerges as one of the album’s standout moments, a tender exploration of love, vulnerability and the effort required to sustain a relationship through difficult moments. The song follows a couple navigating misunderstandings and emotional distance, with the woman expressing her desire to feel loved, valued and reassured. Rather than giving up on the relationship, she asks for a renewed commitment to making things work, reminding her partner that sometimes the smallest gestures, even something as simple as buying flowers, can carry the greatest meaning.

Through its emotionally resonant storytelling, “Amablomo” captures the delicate balance between love and frustration, speaking to the importance of communication, thoughtfulness and choosing one another even when things become difficult.

The release builds on an impressive catalogue that has established Stixx as one of the exciting creative voices shaping contemporary Amapiano. Born Samuel Seloane and hailing from KwaThema on Gauteng’s East Rand, Stixx began playing drums at just two years old before exploring music production in 2015. His musical background, which spans deep house, gospel, Afro-soul and R&B, has informed his distinctive approach to Amapiano, including his experimentation with Kwapi, a fusion of Amapiano and kwaito.

His 2023 debut album, Test of Time, laid the foundation for a growing discography, accumulating over 6.3 million Spotify streams, with standout track “Dlala Stixx” surpassing 1.7 million streams. That momentum continued with collaborative projects including Jazz Cruise Series Vol. 1 alongside Kelvin Momo and Dust 2 Dust with Nvcho, the latter accumulating more than 9.5 million Spotify streams.

In 2025, Stixx joined forces with Sam Deep and Nvcho for Kings Of Kwapi Vol: 1, a project that has since surpassed 11 million Spotify streams and earned a nomination for Best Produced Album at the 2026 Metro FM Music Awards. His growing influence is further reflected in collaborations such as “Amalobolo” and “Pholisa”, which peaked at No. 6 and No. 5 respectively on Spotify South Africa’s daily chart.

Most recently, Stixx continued expanding his musical reach through “The Dawn” and “Market Place 2.0” featuring The Bless, a contemporary reimagining built around the musical legacy of South African jazz icon Hugh Masekela. These releases reflect an artist equally comfortable honouring the foundations of South African music and exploring new possibilities within its evolving soundscape.

With DESTINY, Stixx brings those experiences together in his most personal statement yet. Across 20 tracks, the album represents not only the culmination of years spent refining his craft, but also an affirmation of the path he has chosen. It is the sound of an artist who has stopped questioning where he belongs and started fully embracing what he was always meant to do.
