Zimbabwe helicopter crash claims six lives

The burials of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, his wife Lucy Muteke and four other victims of the Marondera helicopter crash could be delayed as forensic experts continue working to formally identify the remains.

Speaking on Thursday, October 1, 2026, family spokesperson Herbert Chivayo said forensic specialists were yet to complete the identification process following the crash that claimed the lives of the six occupants.

The impact of the crash has made the identification process difficult, with experts now expected to conduct further forensic examinations and match human tissue recovered from the scene with the victims.

The other victims are identified as Lucy’s aide Senelisiwe Magagula, Captain Kelvin T. Soda and Captain Courage Mutavirwa.
