TikTok One creates new earning opportunities for creators in South Africa

TikTok One has officially expanded to South Africa following a successful phased regional rollout. The integrated creative platform connects brands, creators and agencies and also supports more direct pathways to local brand partnerships and sponsored content.

Following its global rollout, TikTok One is now available in South Africa, with local brands and creators already onboarded and using the platform. TikTok One is TikTok’s official collaboration platform connecting brands and creators for sponsored content and commercial partnerships.

Built into TikTok Studio, TikTok One Creator Marketplace provides creators with a single destination to discover paid opportunities and manage brand collaborations. Depending on the opportunity, creators can be discovered by brands that align with their content and niche, apply for selected campaigns, or earn from content they have already created.

For businesses, TikTok One makes it easier to identify and collaborate with South African creators on marketing and advertising campaigns. By creating more direct connections between creative talent and commercial opportunities, the platform helps creators translate their ideas, content and communities into potential income sources through brand partnerships and sponsored content.

Three solutions available to South African creators:

  • Spark Opportunity (Content Suite) is a performance-based program that allows creators to monetise existing TikTok videos by authorising brands to promote them as Spark Ads, earning compensation when those ads are run. Creators must have at least 500 followers and have signed up for TikTok One in the app.
  • Creative Challenge (Creator Content At Scale) enables creators to produce videos based on brand briefs and monetise them based on performance and media investment. Creators must have at least 1,000 followers and have signed up for TikTok One in the app.
  • Creator Led Package enables partnerships with approved creator marketing agencies. Creators are invited individually by approved agencies according to campaign requirements.

TikTok One makes it easier for creators to be discovered by relevant brands, explore available opportunities, and manage collaborations in one place. Participation in individual campaigns remains subject to each campaign’s specific requirements and the needs of participating brands.

“South Africa has an incredible creator community, and TikTok One gives them a direct pathway to work with local and global brands. By bringing creators, brands and agencies together in one place, TikTok One can help unlock new partnerships and income streams for creators, while giving businesses more ways to tap into the creativity and influence of South Africa’s creator community. This is more than a platform update, it’s part of our continued commitment to South Africa’s creative economy. Through this announcement, we want local creators to continue to recognise that their talent has real value, and we’re building the tools to make sure homegrown talent gets the recognition and the income it deserves and the opportunity to participate in the country’s growing digital economy,” – Zethu Mthethwa, Head of Sales at TikTok, Sub-Saharan Africa.

Globally, the momentum behind creator-brand collaborations on TikTok One continues to grow. Between June 2025 and May 2026, the number of creators receiving rewards through TikTok One increased by 90% year on year. Creators are also participating in more than twice as many TikTok One brand collaborations each month. Among established creators with more than 50,000 followers, the monthly rewards value for TikTok One campaigns increased by 40% year on year in May 2026.

The opportunity for brands is growing alongside the creator economy. Globally, 77% of Millennials and Gen Z say they are more likely to purchase from a brand featured by a creator they trust, while 93% of brands planned to allocate a greater share of their budgets to creator collaborations in 2025.

Over the years, TikTok has helped lower the barriers to content creation and discovery in South Africa, enabling people and businesses to find audiences, grow communities, and pursue new opportunities. The expansion of TikTok One builds on this by creating new possibilities on both sides of the creator economy: giving local creators more ways to turn their talent into income and build sustainable creative careers, while helping brands discover authentic creative voices, connect with communities, and build lasting relationships with audiences.

As the local creator economy continues to evolve, TikTok remains committed to continuously unlocking real-world economic opportunities through creativity, alongside existing monetisation options for creators, including LIVE Gifts, Subscription, and Work with Artists.
