Mokete Wa Bahlanka will take the stage at Jazz at Jozi Gold in Braamfontein on Saturday, 19 September 2026, bringing its distinctive fusion of African jazz, spoken word and contemporary urban sound to one of Johannesburg’s most intimate live music rooms.
Meaning “Gathering of Servants”, Mokete Wa Bahlanka brings together piano, voice and poetry in a performance where melody and metaphor carry equal weight. Rooted in the rhythms of the continent and shaped by the pulse of the modern city, the group’s sound moves through smooth jazz progressions, urban beats and verses delivered in Sesotho and English.
The result is part concert, part poetry performance and part collective act of storytelling: music that speaks and poetry that sings.

The performance forms part of Jozi Gold Brewing Company’s growing Jazz at Jozi Gold series, which brings South African musicians to 81 De Korte Street in Braamfontein. The series is part of a wider push to bring live jazz back to the neighbourhood in the close, immediate settings where the music has always worked best.
