PlusFab celebrates 15 years of changing the face of fashion for plus-size women with the launch of groundbreaking tailored suit collection

After 15 years of championing style, confidence, and representation for fuller-figured women, PlusFab is celebrating a remarkable milestone with the launch of its most ambitious collection yet , a sophisticated women’s tailoring and suit range designed specifically for plus-size women.

The launch marks not only a celebration of the brand’s journey but the beginning of a powerful new era for size-inclusive fashion in South Africa.

Founded by South African entrepreneur and fashion designer Ouma Tema (full name Malesela Rachel “Ouma” Tema), PlusFab was created to offer stylish, well-made clothing specifically for fuller-figured women. For more than a decade and a half, the brand has stood at the forefront of plus-size fashion, driven by a simple yet revolutionary belief: fashion should fit the body, not force the body to fit fashion.

Long before inclusivity became a global conversation, PlusFab was creating opportunities, platforms and fashion experiences for fuller-figured women who had long been underserved by mainstream retail. What began as a response to a glaring gap in the market has evolved into a respected fashion movement that continues to redefine what style, luxury and accessibility look like for women of all sizes.

“When we started this journey 15 years ago, plus-size women had very few options. Fashion often focused on hiding fuller bodies rather than celebrating them,” says PlusFab founder and CEO Ouma Tema.

“We built PlusFab because we believed every woman deserves to feel seen, stylish, confident and powerful in the clothes she wears. Fifteen years later, that mission remains unchanged.”

The growth of PlusFab mirrors the transformation of the plus-size fashion industry itself.

Fifteen years ago, fuller-figured women were often limited to uninspired silhouettes, restricted sizing options and clothing that prioritised practicality over self-expression. Today, consumers are demanding more, representation is stronger than ever, and women are unapologetically embracing their bodies and personal style.

Throughout this evolution, PlusFab has played an important role in shifting the narrative, proving that plus-size women deserve the same access to quality craftsmanship, luxury fabrics, premium tailoring and fashion-forward design as anyone else.

To commemorate its 15-year anniversary, the brand is introducing its latest tailoring collection under the campaign theme:

The collection reimagines traditional power dressing through a plus-size lens, offering expertly tailored suits designed to complement and celebrate fuller-figured bodies. Featuring structured blazers, contemporary cuts, refined detailing and elevated fabrics, the range is designed for women who want to command attention in boardrooms, leadership spaces, business events, special occasions and everyday life.

More than a fashion launch, the collection represents a cultural statement.

It challenges outdated notions about who gets to wear luxury tailoring and who gets to occupy spaces of influence and power.

“Tailoring has historically been one of the most exclusive areas of fashion, often unavailable to women above standard sizes,” says Tema.

“This collection changes that. It is about visibility, confidence and ensuring that plus-size women have access to clothing that reflects their ambition, authority and individuality.”

As inclusive fashion continues to gain momentum globally, PlusFab is positioning itself at the forefront of South Africa’s luxury plus-size tailoring movement, proving that representation in fashion must extend beyond runways and retail shelves into boardrooms, executive offices and every space where women are making an impact.

The anniversary celebration serves as both a reflection on how far the industry has come and a reminder of how much further it can go.

Built on the belief that style should never be limited by size, PlusFab’s latest collection stands as a declaration to women everywhere:

As the brand looks ahead to its next chapter, its commitment remains unwavering: creating fashion that fits, empowers and celebrates women exactly as they are.
