Rising SA singer-songwriter K’zee Donga, together with Airburn Sounds featuring CPT Switch, is preparing to make her official introduction to South African music with the release of her debut single, FRIDAY NIGHT, arriving on all major streaming platforms on Friday, 10 July 2026.
Born Khumbuzile Tshabalala, Soweto’s K’zee Donga has spent years quietly writing songs and developing her craft behind the scenes. Now, she is ready to share a sound rooted in authenticity, resilience and the moments that connect people.
Blending Amapiano and House influences, Friday Night is an uplifting anthem about letting loose, forgetting your troubles and embracing the freedom that comes with good music, good company and living in the moment. The song offers a vibrant soundtrack for those who work hard throughout the week and deserve a chance to unwind, celebrate and enjoy life.
“This song represents a new chapter for me,” says K’zee Donga.
“For years, I kept my music to myself because I wasn’t sure if I was ready. Releasing Friday Night is my way of choosing courage and finally sharing a piece of who I am with the world.”
Her musical journey began unexpectedly at the age of eight after watching the iconic film Titanic. Inspired by the emotions of the story, she wrote her very first song and performed it for her childhood friends. The positive response planted a seed that would continue to grow throughout her life.
Music runs deep in K’Zee’s family. Her late sister, whose angelic voice filled local gospel choirs, became one of her earliest inspirations. Watching her perform and compete sparked a fascination with music and performance. Her brother later led a choir, while K’Zee herself became involved in theatre and musical productions during her school years.
Despite growing up surrounded by music, self-doubt often prevented her from fully embracing her talent.
“For years, I kept my lyrics hidden on my computer because I questioned whether I was good enough and whether people would connect with my music,” says K’Zee Donga.
Speaking about collaborating with renowned producer and DJ Airburn Sounds and rapper CPT Switch on her debut single, K’zee Donga said the experience helped elevate the song and brought out the best in her as an artist.
“Working with Airburn Sounds and CPT Switch was an incredible experience. Airburn brought a unique energy and vision to the production that helped bring the song to life, while CPT Switch added a fresh and exciting dimension with his verse. We all shared the same goal of creating a feel-good record that people can connect with. The chemistry in the studio was natural, and I think listeners will hear that in the music. This collaboration taught me a lot and gave me even more confidence as I take my first steps in the industry.”
Inspired by real-life experiences and everyday people, K’zee Donga’s music is driven by positive energy, heartfelt storytelling and a belief that music should make people feel seen, uplifted and connected.
“I hope people hear this song and remember to enjoy the moment,” she says. “Life can be challenging, but there is always space for joy, celebration and creating memories with the people around us. Friday Night is about leaving your worries behind, hitting the dance floor and giving yourself permission to simply have a good time.”
