RUFF, SJAVA, EMTEE AND SAUDI REUNITE FOR THE TRAP TEMPTATIONS AS THE ALBUM SURPASSES 1.3 MILLION STREAMS IN TWO DAYS

The Trap Temptations project reflects the personal growth, artistic evolution and enduring bond between four artists who helped redefine South African hip-hop and afro-soul.

Rather than revisiting the past, The Trap Temptations represent progression. The album arrives after years of individual growth and independent success, with each artist bringing new perspective and depth to the chemistry that first connected them as creatives.

The album was developed and recorded in 2025 over several months and music camps held in the foothills of the Drakensberg, Malelane, Mpumalanga and Johannesburg. Here the artists revisited the chemistry that first shaped their sound while exploring a more refined and mature sonic direction.

“This album represents our brotherhood and we are also trying to give our people a picture of how much we have grown musically as a collective,” explains Ruff. Together, Ruff, Sjava, Emtee and Saudi introduced a uniquely African approach to trap music, blending local storytelling, melody and emotional honesty into a sound that resonated far beyond the genre.

“People watched us change the sound and the culture, but what matters most is that we’re still here, still growing and still making real music that connects with people,” says Emtee. For longtime supporters, the album represents the next stage of a movement that never stopped evolving, while reminding a new generation of the impact, influence and authenticity that continue to define the artists.

“This project reflects everything we’ve experienced as artists and as people,” says Sjava. “Every experience we went through individually added something meaningful to the music and to the connection between us.”

“I’ve been working with Ruff, Emtee and Sjava for more than 15 years. My biggest fear has always been coming to the end of my career someday without this project having been a part of it. This is not just a full circle moment for me, it’s a dream come true,” says Saudi.

With over 1.3 million streams already recorded and conversation around the album continuing to build, The Trap Temptations stands as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of authentic storytelling, genuine brotherhood and artists unafraid to grow in public.
