Money Mike SA recovering at home after serious lung infection scare

Rapper Money Mike SA is on the road to recovery after being discharged from hospital on 17 June following treatment for a serious lung infection.

What initially appeared to be a cough and suspected fever quickly developed into a more serious health concern, prompting medical professionals to admit the artist for observation and treatment. He spent several days in hospital receiving specialised care before doctors cleared him to continue his recovery from home.

Speaking about the ordeal, Money Mike SA said he was grateful for the support he received from family, friends and fans during the difficult period.

“It all started with what I thought was a normal cough and fever. I never imagined it would turn into a lung infection that would require me to be hospitalised. The past few days have been challenging, but I’m grateful to God, the doctors, nurses and everyone who reached out with prayers and messages of support. I’m now recovering at home, taking it one day at a time and focusing on getting my strength back.”

The rapper added that the experience reminded him of the importance of taking one’s health seriously and seeking medical attention when symptoms worsen.

“As artists, we’re always on the move and sometimes we ignore the warning signs our bodies give us. I want to encourage everyone to listen to their bodies and get checked when something doesn’t feel right. Health comes first.”

He was advised by his medical specialist that the infection occurred when harmful bacteria, infected the lungs, causing inflammation and making it difficult for the body to get enough oxygen. He had consistent coughing, fever, chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue and difficulty breathing which led to the hospitalisation.

Money Mike SA is expected to take a short break from public appearances and performances while he focuses on a full recovery. His management has thanked supporters for their continued prayers, well wishes and respect for his privacy during this time.

Born Ibrahim Abdul Fakhouri (31), the rapper of African and Arabian heritage was at the height of promoting his highly anticipated new singles titled ON GAWD and BUDRA and celebrating his appointment as the new brand ambassador for True Religion when he had to pause to nurse his health.

Further updates on his health and return to the stage will be communicated in due course.
