THE 7TH AFRICA CHOICE AWARDS PREPARES TO TAKE PLACE IN SOUTH AFRICA FOR THE FIRST TIME

– In the spirit of Africa day Africa Choice Awards are a great way to celebrate Africanism and our uniqueness which reflects the true African nature as it brings African talent together from all walks of Africa to South Africa for the first time.

For the first time in South Africa, a New Pan-African Creative and Broadcast Movement will bring together the creative industries and personalities around Africa to compete in their respective creativity. The 2026 South African edition is positioned to become one of the continent’s most influential cultural, media, entertainment, and creative industry gatherings — celebrating African excellence across television, radio, podcasting, music, film, fashion, beauty, photography, digital content, innovation, and emerging creative industries.

Unlike conventional awards ceremonies, the Africa Choice Awards uniquely integrates cross-country cultural recognition with strategic media, production, and broadcast partnerships designed to unite Africa through creativity, storytelling, innovation, and influence.

There are two primary ways nominees are selected for the Africa Choice Awards and they include: Submission Based Selection and Panel Selection Process. Individuals can submit nominations for consideration. Once the submissions are received they are reviewed by a panel of respected media and industry professionals from Six African Countries. The panel carefully evaluates each submission based on the nominee’s impact, achievements, relevance and body of work within that particular year to determine whether they are strong fit for nomination.

The second process is when the ACA panel conducts independent research across all award categories. Each participation country is represented by a six member panel responsible for identifying individuals and creatives who have made significant contribution and achieved notable success during the year. These selections are based on merit, visibility, influence, consistency and industry impact.

Puni Modiboa, Managing Director of Mmina Tshipi Integrated Marketing Communication says that, Africa Choice Awards is more than an awards ceremony — it is a continental movement designed to celebrate Africa’s voices, creators, innovators, and cultural influence on a global scale. South Africa provides a powerful gateway to unite African excellence through media, entertainment, culture, technology, and creative collaboration. We are building a platform that not only recognises talent, but also contributes meaningfully to the growth of Africa’s creative economy, youth empowerment, tourism, and cultural diplomacy.

The South African edition will be delivered in strategic collaboration with Cinegear Africa — creating an ecosystem that bridges creative production, broadcast distribution, cultural diplomacy, and commercial brand integration. The initiative is expected to attract creators, broadcasters, media executives, government stakeholders, corporate sponsors, investors, tourism authorities, and entertainment leaders from across Africa and beyond.

Although there are no financial prizes for the winners the awards are a space for creatives to come together and celebrate each other’s achievements, and networking opportunities. However, the winners will walk away with trophies and winners certificate.
