Wales Bonner and Y-3 unveil their collaborative collection, first revealed during Wales Bonner’s Spring/Summer 2026 presentation in Paris. As part of the British designer’s ongoing relationship with adidas, the collection unites two of the German sportswear brand’s most celebrated partners in a singular expression.
Placing London and Tokyo in dialogue, the capsule sees Wales Bonner interpret the Y-3 archive – highlighting craft and culture through the art of research and preservation. Shot by renowned Japanese photographer Takashi Homma, the campaign imagery takes on a lo-fi, intimate sensibility. Observing the care and devotion of collectors, and the reverence given to art and craft in Japanese culture, the collection is framed through three character studies. From the perspectives of Kazunori Hamana, the maker; Terry Ellis, the collector; and Rintaro Sekizuka, the listener, the campaign celebrates objects shaped, gathered, and experienced over time.
Creating a through line to Wales Bonner’s seasonal collection with adidas, the capsule’s sole footwear focus is the Y-3 FIELD – a silhouette first introduced in 2003 that harks back to the Three Stripes’ football
heritage. The Wales Bonner version features a fold over leather tongue with signature stitching, a dark
brown lustrous upper, and striped lining.
Similarly, the apparel synthesizes the unique sporting perspectives of both luxury labels. The menswear offering includes a satin jacket adorned with a tonal embroidered leopard print artwork, which then features as a water based print on a jersey t-shirt, a track jacket in a bronze colorway with shiny contrast stripes, tapered track pants in blue or black rip stop three quarter length shorts, and a knitted sweater. The womenswear selection, meanwhile, comprises a black track jacket with white cuffs, and a knitted tank top. Continuing the subtle nods to iconic sporting forms, a considered suite of accessories is highlighted by a lizard-printed leather bowling bag with silver hardware. The collection is completed by two pairs of over knee football inspired socks and a knitted visor beanie in two colourways.The Wales Bonner and Y-3 collection is available globally on 13th May at adidas.co.za and adidas Sandon City with a price range of R2199 – R5999.
