The Chairperson of the Finance Portfolio Committee, Hon. Andiswa Mosai, on Friday 24 April
2026 convened a meeting to receive a briefing from the National Council of Provinces
Permanent Delegate supported by National Treasury on the 2026 Division of Revenue Bill.
The 2026 Division of Revenue Bill explains how the national government will divide money
between national, provincial, and local governments for the 2026/27 financial year. It is part of
the national budget process and helps ensure that public funds are shared fairly and used in
a transparent and accountable way.
The Bill focuses on careful spending, reducing debt, and avoiding tax increases while still
supporting economic growth and protecting households. It also aims to make sure government
money is used more efficiently on important services like health, education, and infrastructure.
Gauteng will receive about R140.95 billion as its main share of provincial funding, which is the
largest share among all provinces. It will also receive between R27 billion and R29 billion in
conditional grants over the next few years for specific projects.
The Bill provides Gauteng with funding for key services but within a constrained fiscal
environment. This means the province must manage growing delivery service pressures with
limited budget increases, while ensuring efficient spending and strict compliance with
conditional grant requirements
