Mossel Bay abuzz with Get into Rugby Festivities

D’Almeida Sports Stadium was a hive of activities on last month when the Get into Rugby programme made its way to Mossel Bay in the Western Cape on 24 August.

The initiative aimed at promoting rugby at the grassroots level and developing young talent brought together a group of young athletes from local primary schools for a day of competitiveness, camaraderie and celebratory rugby.

Aspiring rugby players were provided an opportunity to showcase their skills and learn new ones through a series of exciting matches.

The event hosted by the South Western Districts (SWD), saw 148 aspiring rugby players (136 boys and 12 girls) take to the field on the day.

Partaking in the festival were learners from Saturnus Primary, Sunridge Primary, Fraaisig Primary, and Thyolora Primary, among others, each team contributed to the lively atmosphere.

To date, the initiative continues to excel in promoting the game at the grassroots level and fostering young talent.

While providing a platform for young rugby enthusiasts to showcase their abilities and gain more knowledge about the sport.

Going beyond the competitiveness, the initiative continues to highlight the importance of nurturing young talent, inclusivity and promoting the growth of rugby in the country.
