MEC MATOME CHILOANE CONGRATULATES DR PITSO MOSIMANE FOR THE HONOURARY DOCTORATE

The Gauteng Education, Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, MEC Matome Chiloane, has congratulated coach Pitso Mosimane for being conferred an Honorary Doctorate by the prestigious and reputable institution such as, the University of Johannesburg. 

Dr. Pitso Mosimane is arguably South Africa’s most successful coach, having won multiple titles, starting as a PSL coach at Supersport United. His most significant success was at Mamelodi Sundowns, this is where he won 5 league titles, including the much coveted CAF Champions League. He also went on to do wonders in a foreign land where he won various cups at Al Ahly including Egypt cup and 2 CAF Champions league titles.

The MEC describes this award as a well-deserved accolade for the Kagiso and Gauteng born Dr. Pitso Mosimane who has had a significant impact on the pedigree of football in South Africa.

“Dr. Mosimane has earned a well-deserved accolade. His accomplishments have illuminated South African football and motivated prominent clubs and leagues throughout the continent and beyond to recognize and appreciate the coaching abilities of individuals from our nation, particularly black coaches who have historically faced skepticism even in local contexts regarding their potential for achieving significant success.

The MEC further emphasizes that Dr. Mosimane’s influence has not only raised the profile of our coaches’ skills but has also played a pivotal role in enhancing the development of numerous players who have gone on to proudly represent the country and garner interest from prestigious international clubs.”

MEC Chiloane has also commended the University of Johannesburg for their recognition of Dr. Mosimane and his tremendous achievements both as a former professional soccer player and as a coach.

The MEC, on behalf of the people of Gauteng, congratulates Dr. Mosimane once again and looks forward to joining the sporting and academic community during the celebration ceremony at FNB on Friday.
