LUKE FLEURS SINGED THE TWO YEAR DEAL WITH AMAKHOSI

Breaking news Fleurs parted ways with SuperSport United late last month, becoming a free agent and then invited to train at Naturena by Amakhosi.

These developments occurred while the Glamour Boys were coached by Molefi Ntseki, who was sacked on Monday following a string of poor results, with Cavin Johnson given the job in the interim.

It’s unclear if Johnson, recruited by Chiefs to be the head of youth before being elevated to the hot seat alongside Dillon Sheppard, had any say in Fleurs’ signing contract with Amakhosi . What cannot be disputed is the player’s ability. He was a member of the U23 squad at the Olympic Games in Tokyo two years ago under then-coach David Notoane, starting all three group games.

Chiefs wanted to sign Fleurs from SuperSport in January, but the clubs could not agree on his transfer fee. Amakhosi then clinched a deal with his teammate Thatayaone Ditlhokwe on a free transfer, with the contract taking effect on July 1 ahead of the start of the current 2023/23 season.

Pending a medical, Fleurs is set to reunite with the Botswana international, a centreback pairing likely to be revived under Johnson.The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year deal with an option to renew at the end of the contract.
