KFC Mini- Cricket Provincial Seminar hosted at the Central Gauteng League _ Final

KFC Mini-Cricket Provincial Seminar, the pinnacle of cricket development, was hosted at the Central Gauteng League on Friday in anticipation of the 2023/2024 season. The seminar’s goal is to improve the efficiency, accessibility, and opportunities to involve even more children in South Africa’s best grassroots activities through the exchange of ideas and knowledge gained from discussions of optimal processes and tactical development.

This year’s theme is “rebooting,” with the intention of returning to the foundations of cricket and child development. Professional cricketers from the Lions franchise, Sinalo Jafta, Karabo Meso, Palesa Mapoo, Evan Jones and Russel Domingo (Newly appointed Head Coach) were present at the seminar.

Karabo Meso, a player of the Lion’s Women Cricket team and an alumni in the KFC Mini-Cricket programme, shared her thoughts on the seminar. “My experience as a participant in the KFC Mini-Cricket programme laid the groundwork for me to realise my dream of becoming a cricket player on a professional level. Not only from a sporting point of view, but also from a life skills point of view, the programme plays an essential part in the communities that we serve.  Being at the seminar and seeing all the volunteer coaches, brought back memories of my time spent in the programme and the encouragement I received from my former coach, Tholang Hlalele to pursue a career as a professional cricketer. It warms my heart to see that there are individuals who continue to take the time to cultivate young players into great people.”

KFC Marketing Manager: Brand and Purpose, Andra Nel shared her thoughts on the provincial seminars. ”As a brand, we believe that it is important for the KFC Mini- Cricket programme to continue to be impactful, and for that to happen, we need to ensure that the volunteer coaches receive the essential resources. We are truly excited about the KFC Mini-Cricket seminars in the various provinces. It’s all about reigniting the kids, coaches and volunteers’ love and enthusiasm for the programme, while also levelling the playing field and ensuring that they stay active throughout the entire season.”
